The first pop – Arts on Main

The only way to start blogging is to…well…start blogging!

As a first blog post, I thought it fitting to share my experience today at Arts on Main. It seems that Jozi is going through quite an upgrade these days, with ex-dark and dingy alleyways and warehouses being turned into uber-trendy galleries and coffee shops.

Jozi has always had a unique, somewhat dark, energy and I am so, so excited that things like this have started to crop up.

Arts on Main is a “creative space” created in an old 1900’s bonded warehouse, complete with art galleries, designer shops, a restaurant and an amazing market on the last Sunday of every month.

Although it probably took longer to find the place than the time spent there (I have a knack for getting lost in downtown Jo’burg, or pretty much anywhere), it was well worth the visit! Check it out at (GPS coordinates are on the site – I would recommend actually making use of them).

Here are a few pics of the few hours spent there soaking up the culture.
